Cancel Pre-Authorised Payment and Take A New Payment

Warning Regarding 28 Day Fund Release

Warning
Please note that cancelled (or aborted) car pre-authorisations, can take up to 28 days to be released back to a customer's card. It is normally within 10 days but the customer's bank will allow themselves up to 28 days to release the funds. It's not your bank or your payment gateway which hold these funds, it's the customer's bank. As a result, we can exert no influence over the process and this is something which is standard across the card processing industry. The only ways to make the release process quick are to either:
      1) Capture 50p, then the rest will be released back to the card within 2 days
      2) Capture the full amount of the pre-auth and then do a bank refund.

How To Cancel A Pre-Authorised Transaction

There are a variety of reasons why it might sometimes be necessary to cancel a pre-authorised card transaction. You can do this very simply in AGG SMART by opening the Job Screen and clicking the red Cancel Button as highlighted in the pink box in screenshot below:

How To Take A Pre-Authorised Payment Or Immediate Payment

Once the pre-authorisation has been cancelled the Payment Column for the order will then change to say CANCELLED with a red background, as highlighted by the lower red arrow in the screenshot below:

You can click on this CANCELLED button to pop-up further options which allow to either take a new pre-authorised payment (2nd-preauth), or take an immediate payment using the Top-up Payment option, as highlighted by the upper red arrow in the screenshot above.
