If you are using Sage 50 Accounting, and would like customer credit limits and account balances to sync between Sage and AGG SMART, then you will need to install the AGG SMART Sage Connector to allow this syncing to take place.
Prerequisites
In order to install the AGG SMART Sage Connector you will need:
- Sage 50 installed onto a computer in your office
- A user account on the same computer which allows you to install new software
If you do not have either of the above in place, or encounter any issues with the installation steps below, please get in touch with your IT team to assist you with this installation.
Installation
To install the plugin you need to perform the following steps:
2) Once downloaded double-click the file to begin installation.
3) If Microsoft Defender pop-ups with a blue alert entitled "Windows protected your PC", then please click the underlined "More info" link which will reveal the "Run anyway" button at the bottom - click this button to continue.
4) You'll now be presented with the first screen of the installer. Click the "Next" button three times to accept all of the default installation options.
5) If you receive a User Account Control notification asking "Do you want to allow this app form an unknown publisher to make changes to your device?" - click "Yes".
6) With the installation complete click the "Close" button.
7) You should now see a green icon with a white A on your desktop called AGG SMART Sage Connector - double-click this to run the software.
8) If you receive a pop-up saying "You must install .NET Desktop Runtime to run this application." - click the "Download it now" button.
8a) This will take you a the Microsoft website where it will automatically download the installation file for the .NET Desktop Runtime
8b) Double-click this download to open the Installer and click the "Install" button.
8c) If you receive a User Account Control notification asking "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" - click "Yes".
8d) The installation of the .NET Desktop Runtime should now be complete - click "Close".
9) Go back to the desktop and double-click the AGG SMART Sage Connector icon again to open the software.
Configuration
With the AGG SMART Sage Connector installed and opened you should now see a screen matching the screenshot below:
From the above screenshot you can see there are 6 fields which need to be completed before the connection can be complete, these are:
Sage Data Directory:
This is the ACCDATA directory of your live Sage installation. Though this will change depending on your personal setup, it is often found in directory such as C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2022\Company.000\Accdata
Sage Username & Password:
This is the username and password you use to login into Sage with. Ideally, you would create a new Sage user which is only used by AGG SMART Sage Connector.
Sage Version:
In this box you need to enter the current major version of Sage that you are using. For example, if you are running Sage 30.1, then you just need to enter 30 in this box.
Please note this Sage version will need updating every time you upgrade to a new major version of Sage.
AGG Username & AGG Password:
Test Connection, Save & Run
With all of your configuration details entered into the software you can now click the "Test Connection" button to make sure the plugin can connect to Sage.
If the connection is successful the message in the large box in the top right will say "AGG SMART Connected!"
You can now click the "Save and Run" button to start the data sync between Sage and AGG SMART.
Click the "Minimise" button and the plugin will disappear into the apps area of your "System Tray".
To reopen the plugin configuration screen you can double-click this icon at any time.
If you receive an error when testing the connection please check that you have the version number, Sage username and Sage password correctly entered.
